NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming)
is a method of studying our behaviour and deep-rooted patterns to help us
understand and therefore improve our lives.
NLP was developed by John Grinder and Richard Bandler in
America during the mid 1970’s. With the spread of interest in NLP
worldwide, many people becoming more aware that they have more personal
power than they use in their day-to-day lives.
We are often unaware that it is our internal view of life and life experiences
that make us react. The NLP practitioner will work towards interpreting
your actions as well as the language you may use to describe a certain situation.
Your thought processes are punctuated by specific eye movements, slight
change in the tone of your voice, sometimes pupil dilation and even subtle
skin colour changes. The trained NLP practitioner will have the skill to
notice and interpret this type of information.
NLP is not therapy, nor is it a theory-based method, but
it is the process of making models to be tried out. There is nothing analytical
about NLP - it is made up of models to be applied. If they don’t work,
the idea is to move on and try again. As a practitioner observes and listens
to you, he/she gathers information about you that you may not be aware of.
The idea is to evolve your human consciousness and break old, unwanted patterns,
which are holding you back. You will find out how your brain functions and
then be able to use the information to make the changes you want.
People often feel ‘stuck’,
as if they just can’t move on. More often than not, we are holding
ourselves back from fulfilling our full potential. this can be in our career,
in relationships, or perhaps in our physical or mental state. A good NLP
practitioner will help you to recognise where your perception is blocking
progress and then offer exercises, which help you to let go of these old
patterns. NLP can also be used to help people conquer their phobias. Past
traumas are identified and belief systems are used to sort out specific
problems.
PSYCHOTHERAPY
Psychotherapy is guidance given by a fully qualified psycotherapist to help
you to understand yourself and why you act in certain ways. People usually
seek psycotherapy after prolonged periods of depression, after trauma such
as bereavement, divorce etc. or simply for a general feeling of being stuck
in a rut, repeating old worn out life patterns.
If you have suffered long bouts of feeling depressed, or
maybe you never quite feel that you ‘belong’, this could be
a reason to seek the expertise of a psycotherapist. Maybe you feel out-of-touch
with who you are and lacking in direction and focus. All of these feelings
can activate physical illness.
To feel positive, energetic and at one with the world, is
simply to accept who you are and being happy with yourself. Many things
can block your natural energy flow, such as sorrow, anxiety, guilt, shame,
fear and it may be that you need to revise the path you have taken and change
your life. If you have lost direction, you may need help and guidance to
get back on the right track - learn to trust in your own judgement and take
responsibility for you own actions once again.
Many people are shy or embarrassed to consider seeking the
help of a professional psycotherapist, feeling that it makes them out to
be weak or even strange. Quite the reverse is true. Those people who embark
on the voyage of self-discovery, are surely bigger and braver than the majority
of those who simply sweep all their problems under the carpet.
A session with a psycotherapist will usually last 50 minutes once a week
or perhaps once a fortnight. Although you don’t have to be suffering
from a specific condition, other than feeling at a loss in life, many people
seek help when they suffer from depression, hyperventilation syndrome or
chronic fatigue. Such symptoms are often enough to drive someone to be willing
to learn about himself or herself, in order to find a way out of what is
often self-imprisonment.
You will be guided to have more insight into your own thought
patterns and to be aware of issues and situations that trigger reactions
and set off old patterns. Recognition of inner stress factors will help
you learn how to diffuse otherwise upsetting situations. The more you unravel,
the more sight you get of the positive power you have within you and how
to use it. This process frees your natural potential and you come to trust
yourself and your own judgement. this ultimately leads to a happier, healthier
you.
CO-ACTIVE LIFE COACHING
Life coaching is extremely beneficial by telephone or e-mail as there are
no distractions. You have a constant companion for the difficult times and
also for the great times to share your success. Life coaching is a form
of one-to-one professional guidance and support, which can help you break
old habits leaving the way clear for you to acheive your goals and accomplish
ambitions in your career and personal life.
In modern society, with more life options available and
less time to talk to friends and family for moral support, the life coach
has emerged. The Life Coach is a professionally trained individual who is
qualified to guide you through difficult situations so that you can ultimately
make the most of your talents and opportunities. A Life Coach will listen,
without prejudice or judgement and with an independent ear to your fears,
dreams and goals. You may need help with your career, creative skills, life
changes, etc. Friends and family may be too busy or simply unable to help
in certain areas. This is the job of the Life Coach.
HYPNOTHERAPY & HYPNOANALYSIS
Hypnosis is the use of both verbal and non-verbal suggestion to assist people
to enter a relaxed state of consciousness similar to the day-dreaming state.
Both hypnotherapy and hypnoanalysis invoke the use of the
hypnotic state to cause changes in behaviour, or to release repressed traumas,
in a way that is not possible in the normal waking state. These changes
in behaviour are related to specific unhealthy conditions which may be troubling
the subject such as:
| Compulsive Habits |
Stress |
| Smoking |
Phobias and Traumas |
| Addictions |
Self-confidence |
| Overeating |
Public Speaking |
| Weight |
Depression |
| Worry |
Performance Improvement |
| Anxiety |
Allergies |
| Degenerative Conditions |
Pain Management |
HYPNOTHERAPY
Suggestion Hypnotherapy is used for applications such as relaxation and
stress management, confidence-building, stopping smoking, raising self-esteem,
public speaking, taking examinations, past life regression, degenerative
disease symptom management, and other similar treatments.
THE HYPNOTIC STATE
One of the most widely known and common misconceptions is that when one
is hypnotised consciousness is lost. Due to this misconception, persons
who need and desire hypnosis fail to utilise its benefits. This misconception
impairs their confidence and makes it more difficult for the subject to
obtain the necessary or desired results.
At every level of hypnosis, even the deepest possible state,
the person being hypnotised is always completely aware of all of his surrounding
circumstances. At no time is the person unaware. The greater the depth,
the greater the awareness, and the better the therapeutic results. Because
of this there is an increased attention to the hypnotist’s suggestions.
One of the greatest difficulties for a hypnotist is to convince the subject
that he or she has been hypnotised. Over 90% of people hypnotised for the
first time will deny that they have been hypnotised, and assert that the
reason for this was that they were entirely aware of everything that was
said and done during the hypnotic session.
It is important to understand that hypnosis is a natural
process. A person in hypnosis cannot be made to do anything contrary to
his or her moral or ethical codes.
HYPNOANALYSIS
Hypoanaysis is used in the particular circumstances where treatment of recurrent
problems such as phobias, habits, or psychosomatic problems generally are
required. Such problems are often the result of repressed memory of a traumatic
event. A client in analysis would expect to attend between 5 to 8 sessions
in order for the problem to be resolved.
